Haircare is all about upkeep and consistency. I always find I don't fall in love with a shampoo or conditioner until I use it continuously. Honestly it takes about a week or two to really see the results of a shampoo and conditioner. Nothing works overnight, the same for when it comes to skincare. So makes sense that haircare is no different.
While on an island vacation my hair was being exposed to the ocean and sun all day every day for a week straight. I'm definitely not complaining, but if my hair could talk maybe it would possibly scream. My long locks needed some serious help after the end of each day. Aside from the tangles it felt dry and brittle. Side note, the Ouidad double detangler comb was a serious hair saver when combing through the tangles with conditioner.
I used Playa's shampoo and conditioner nightly. I've always been a lover of the shampoo, but the conditioner had yet to hook me. I was convinced it was more for girls with thinner less textured hair. Well, washing my hair after relaxing yet damaging days for my hair, I found after a few days my hair felt less damaged. It was more hydrated and shiny even after the ocean.
I had even messaged with Playa earlier in my trip on Instagram explaining why I didn't think their conditioner was for a girl with a thicker head of hair. I hadn't followed my own advice of longterm use clearly. They told me to try the conditioner as a leave in conditioner as well.
In my next wash, I rinsed the conditioner out while leaving some in. Again after a day in the ocean and a night swim, I came back to my room hair dried from the humidity of Hawaii, my hair looked shiny and as if I freshly showered rather than just swam in the ocean. Photographic evidence below.
